It has been a while since the last post. In fact, summer has long since disappeared and now the mountain tops are dusted with snow. A lot of things have occurred over the summer, many worthy of a blog in of itself. The big event that many folks in town are talking about is Ghost Glacier on Mount Edith Cavell. This glacier actually fell off the mountain and tumbled into the lake below setting off a torrent of water that altered the stream channel and wiped the trail off the map. This area is now closed until a thorough assessment can be completed. This means the area has been and will continue to be closed perhaps until late next year. We are hoping that it will be open next year but Parks will need to repair the road and parking lot that was also partially destroyed. Stay tuned for its eventual opening and new interpretation of the event.
